Pinks Boutique to run Organic Beauty Festival
Natural and organic brand Pinks Boutique has organised an Organic Beauty Festival to run in September, to tie in with the Soil Association’s Organic September awareness month.
Pinks Boutique has created artwork and downloadable guides, resources and templates to help participating spas and salons showcase their commitment to offering certified organic skincare.
Spas and salons including the Potting Shed Spa in Batley, Posh Nails & Beauty in Derby, and the spas at The Scarlet and Bedruthan hotels, both in Cornwall, have signed up to participate.
The festival will see participating spas focus on organic skincare throughout September, through measures such as educating clients about the characteristics and benefits of organic skincare, offering special organic treatment packages and giving complimentary organic skincare consultations.
The festival aims to raise awareness of organic skincare and beauty products and make customers aware of the danger of products falsely labelled as organic.
Pinks Boutique founder Kirstie Sherriff said: “Unfortunately, there can be a world of difference between a beauty product that has been certified organic and one that is merely described as ‘organic’ on the label.” Sherriff advised spas and consumers to: “Look for the Soil Association symbol on the product before you buy.”
Soil Association director of policy Peter Melchett said: “There is no doubt that many products claiming to be organic are misleading consumers. Under Soil Association standards, to use the word organic, the product must contain over 95% organic ingredients, excluding water.”
