Professional Beauty North opens at Manchester Central
Seminar sessions, live stage talks and demonstrations and competitions were on the agenda on day one at Professional Beauty North in Manchester yesterday.
Day one of Professional Spa & Wellness North saw presentations on workplace wellness and managing online reviews.Colin Farndon, spa director at the Armathwaite Hall hotel in the Lake District, shared the spa’s experience of implementing workplace wellness.
Farndon explained that the key to the corporate element of the spa’s Life Regimen wellness programme was finding a person with the companies they work with to act as an advocate for embracing corporate wellness.
Farndon, who defined wellness as “complete physical, social and mental wellbeing” said there is still some confusion as to what the term wellness truly entails.
This, he added, is something that needs to be addressed. He also commented that the spa industry, with its great facilities and well-trained staff, is well placed to tap into the need for relaxation and wellbeing.
Day one of Professional Beauty North also saw Business Skills seminars on low cost marketing and client retention, Advanced Treatments seminars on mesotherapy and permanent cosmetics, Nail Skills sessions on quick manicures for busy clients and Holistic seminars on beauty in pregnancy.
The day also featured live stage demonstrations on waxing, makeup and nail polish application. Professional Beauty North continues today. Exhibitors at the event, which covers skincare, nails, furniture and equipment and tanning, among other sections, include Elemis, Caci, Sothys, Gerrard International, Heaven Skincare and Crystal Clear, among others.
