By 2020, the spa industry will need to have become adept at catering to the needs and requirements of a highly diverse and increasingly demanding clientele, according to a recent report.
Spa 2020 was published by Wade & Company, the Switzerland based management consultancy behind the annual Hotel Yearbook, in which industry experts share their market predictions for the year. Looking ahead, the report contains predictions for the condition of the spa industry in seven years’ time.
By the year 2020, the spa industry is forecasted to see a varied customer base of baby boomers seeking to address the signs and challenges of aging, financially conscious thirty to fifty-somethings whose busy lives create a high demand for convenience and spa-goers in their 20s and early 30s, for whom authentic but technologically savvy spas offering a social component will be essential.
In seven year’s time, the report states that spas will also be welcoming the first truly digital generation, spa-goers in their teens and early 20s, likely to prefer quick solutions and short, targeted, treatments. Spa 2020 also advises that the future will bring even greater pressure on spas to clearly target their brand, identify their customer base and actively engage with their customers.
