Salon owners invited to hear more about draft apprenticeship standards

Industry association Habia is holding three events in collaboration with the National Hairdressing Federation for salon owners to fully explain the new draft standards for apprenticeships.

As part of the Government’s Trailblazers initiative to make apprenticeships more employer led, the beauty industry’s Trailblazers are developing new standards for apprenticeship training, which will come into force from May 2015.

The group, which is chaired by Urban Retreat’s George Hammer, will launch an online consultation next month, allowing salon and spa owners and managers to have their say on the standards and assessments for apprenticeships being proposed.

The events held by Habia and the NHF are designed to give employers insight into how the draft standards were developed, what’s in them and why, and the principles that will be assessed, before they respond to the online consultation. Events are free and are being held in Poulton-le-Fylde in Lancashire on May 19, West Smithfield in London on May 20 and Nottingham on May 21. Places can be booked through the NHF website.
