Shiseido's collagen diagnostic machine wins IFSCC award

Shiseido has won the highest Basic Research award at the 27th IFSCC (International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists) Congress for its “Imaging Technology to Visualize Collagen Status Inside the Skin Without Damaging”.

Shiseido secured the award with a total of nine presentations, demonstrating that the imaging technology was capable of in-situ, non-invasive assessment of the structural alteration of the human dermis.

By using laser beams, the technology analyses collagen status and anti-ageing changes within the skin, without causing damage.

The IFSCC Congress gathers together cosmetics chemists from around the world to present the latest in science and technology-related research. The 2012 Congress was held in Johannesburg, South Africa, from October 15-18.

This Basic Research achievement marks the fourth consecutive year for Shiseido to win the top award in the category.
