Show Government that beauty salons are ready to reopen with PB’s #SalonsAreSafe campaign

After being told that beauty businesses in England can’t reopen on July 4, PB is calling on professionals to help show MPs that the industry is safe and ready to reopen alongside hair salons, with its #SalonsAreSafe campaign.

We want to show that the beauty profession is safe and ready to open their doors again and that the industry needs a definitive reopening date. To do this, we want to make a united call on Friday, July 3, that #SalonsAreSafe. For people to notice, we need your help. Any contribution you can give on the day will be vital in promoting our message.

The aim is to encourage the Government to give a definitive date when salons can reopen post-coronavirus lockdown in England, Scotland and Wales.

We understand that some may still feel hesitant about a return to work. However, since the Government’s announcement on June 23, we have seen an overwhelming response from the industry who want to go back to work and believe they could do so in a safe manner.

How to take part in PB’s #SalonsAreSafe campaign:

There are three ways you can get involved in PB’s #SalonsAreSafe campaign on Friday, July 3:

  1. Show us how your beauty salon, nail bar or home-based business will be safe on reopening by posting photos and videos on social media using the #SalonsAreSafe hashtag. These photos and videos can be walkthroughs of your salon showcasing the changes you’ve made in terms of PPE, social distancing, etc – the more visual or creative you can be the better. We’d also recommend tagging your local MP, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and/or the Business Secretary Alok Sharma to help get the message direct to the UK Government.

  1. Share PB’s #SalonsAreSafe graphic (see above) on your social media channels while using the #SalonsAreSafe hashtag, explaining how you’ve made your salon safe for reopening. Also, ask your clients to share the message on the day too as a show of faith in how you’ll look after them. We’d also recommend tagging your local MP, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and/or the Business Secretary Alok Sharma to help get the message direct to the UK Government.

  1. Write or email your local MP before July 3 asking for clarity on when beauty salons will be able to reopen and explain the measures you’ve put in place to make your business safe. The letter has been templated, so it’s easy for you to fill in, and you can find the name and contact details of your local MP to send it to here on the UK Parliament website

Professional Beauty will be supporting the campaign across our social channels, along with resharing your posts throughout the day and making as big a noise as possible.
