W Hotels to open second Mexico hotel

Starwood brand W Hotels has announced the opening of a new property in 2016, the W Punta de Mita in Mexico. The hotel, which will form part of the exclusive beachfront Los Veneros community, will comprise 120 villas and include in-house spa brand Away Spa.
The spa will span 372sq m and will include a Fit gym. Other facilities at the resort will include an outdoor swimming pool, a signature restaurant and a nightlife venue.
Jorge Giannattasio, senior vice-president and chief of Latin America operations for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are thrilled to announce this deal as we continue to look for opportunities to bring our world-class hotel brands to the best destinations around the globe.”
The property will be the second W hotel in Mexico, after the W Mexico City. A third Mexico property, the W Kanai Retreat, Riviera Maya, is slated to open in January 2018.
