Women blame one another for negative body image

More than half of UK women (59%) admit to having negative thoughts about their looks at least four times a day.

Most women blame other women, not men, for making them worry about weight and 25% would take it as a compliment if someone told them they looked too thin.

However, 74% of women believe that society’s portrayal of the image of beauty is too thin, according to a new survey by YouGov on behalf of The Sun newspaper.

The survey of 1,831 women across the UK also found that most women believe 12 is the perfect dress size to be and 54% have been jealous of a friend’s size.

Despite widespread worry about body image, however, a massive 90% of respondents said they would rather have financial security than the perfect figure.
