Set to be one of the most prominent beauty trends of the upcoming year, Pinterest predicts that Gen Z and Millennials will enter their sea witch era, embracing wet-look hair and mermaid manicures.
The trend is much more than seashells and starfish, says Pinterest in its annual trend forecast. In 2025, beauty enthusiasts will dive head first into sultry siren makeup, wet-look wavy hair and moody mermaid manicures from dusk to dawn.

The trend feels reminiscent of Charli XCX’s aesthetic while on her much-followed Brat album tour which sees her performing soaking wet with smudged eyeliner, adding to her grungey vibes.
The new year will also inject colour into everyday makeup looks with the "aura beauty" trend that will see bright hues extended from just the eyes radiating from chin to cheek.
The aura beauty trend first started with aura nails seeing contrasting pigments being used over solid colours to create a mood ring effect. It later evolved to include combined blush and eye looks.
Pinterest says that Gen Z and Boomers are driving this high-hue trend that’s all about "honing in on a singular colour aesthetic and flaunting it."

Pinterest predicts that the beauty world is set to experience a "goddess complex" with gold facials, ethereal nails and goddess braids gaining popularity.

Other beauty trends from Pinterest’s predictions that we will be keeping an eye on in 2025 include "dark cherry red" which is already becoming big in nails and make-up, "castlecore" which we think many will be inspired by thanks to Chappell Roan’s medieval looks on the red carpet recently and "rococo revival" harking back to the Late Baroque period and "let them eat cake" aesthetics.
