On Monday November 17, the Beauty Directors Club and the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority (Habia) hosted the first of a new series of Beauty Round Up events.
Taking place at Trafford College in Manchester, the networking event provided beauty salon and skin clinic owners, managers and professionals with the opportunity to connect with brands in an intimate environment and learn from fellow beauty business owners.
Following canapes prepared by students from the college, attendees were invited to sit down for a series of presentations and panels.
Joan Scott, chief executive of Habia, kicked off the evening by discussing the current issues facing the industry – from licensing issues, CPD and accreditation.
Following this, Helena Grzesk MBE shared the latest developments in Cancer touch therapy – a particularly pressing topic, with one in two people now at risk of being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. “We’ve all got a role to play to ensure the next generation is confident and compassionate. Wellbeing shouldn’t exclude anyone,” she said.
Susan Routledge, founder of the Beauty Directors Club, then hosted a panel featuring Kathy Scott, Rebecca Elsdon, Sara Shoemark and Verity Davies. They discussed their unique experiences in the industry, utilising video content to increase turnover, managing and motivating a team and the importance of a positive work-life balance.
