Mövenpick is entering the UK market with a luxury countryside resort at Hampshire’s Old Thorns Estate, offering leisure, wellness and culinary experiences for both business and leisure guests

Accor, the global hospitality giant, has announced a landmark partnership with Dubai-based Select Group to bring Mövenpick to the United Kingdom for the first time.

The new Mövenpick Hampshire – Old Thorns resort is expected to open in late 2027 following an extensive renovation of the 194-room property.

Set across over 300 acres of Hampshire countryside, the resort will combine luxurious accommodations with premier leisure and business facilities, creating a destination for both local and international travellers.

Extensive facilities for leisure and business guests

Mövenpick Hampshire – Old Thorns will offer:

  • A championship-level golf course
  • 2,500 sqm of conference and meeting space
  • Four restaurants showcasing Mövenpick’s signature culinary excellence
  • A wellness centre and new spa
  • A ballroom accommodating over 500 event guests

The property’s renovation will focus on enhancing guestrooms, expanding leisure and wellness offerings, and elevating dining concepts in line with Mövenpick’s Swiss-inspired hospitality and inventive culinary approach.

Founded in 1948, Mövenpick transformed the Swiss dining scene and evolved into an international hotel brand which now has over 130 hotels globally, with food and drink at the heart of the guest experience.

Graham Dodd, VP development for UK and Ireland at Accor, said, "Bringing Mövenpick to the UK strengthens our premium brand portfolio. The Old Thorns estate offers an exceptional backdrop for a world-class resort that aligns with the expectations of UK guests."

Prime location in the Hampshire countryside

Located just one hour from London, the resort sits near Guildford and Petersfield, with proximity to major attractions including the South Downs National Park and the Goodwood Estate, home to annual events such as The Festival of Speed and Cowdray Park Polo Club.

Israr Liaqat, group chief executive of Select Group, added, "This property is a landmark of character and opportunity. Its celebrated history aligns seamlessly with Mövenpick’s commitment to authentic experiences and Swiss-inspired hospitality."

Expanding Accor’s premium portfolio

Mövenpick Hampshire – Old Thorns will be operated by Accor under its management agreement with Select Group and adds to the company’s growing UK presence of over 200 hotels. Globally, Accor manages more than 5,700 properties in over 110 countries, spanning luxury, premium and lifestyle segments.

The opening of the Hampshire resort marks Mövenpick’s continued European expansion, following recent launches in Poland, Greece and Italy.
