Final call for entries for BABTAC innovation competition

The British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) has issued a final call for entries for the nation-wide competition to reward innovation in the beauty industry. Entries for the competition, in which the winner will take home an £8,000 price, close on July 31.

Applicants must submit a summary of their innovative concept, in no more than 400 words, along with the completed entry form, before this date. A shortlist of 20 semi-finalists, who will be required to provide a two and half minute video clip further detailing their concept to the BABTAC judging panel of industry experts, will then be selected.

The shortlist will be announced at the Olympia Beauty show in London October 8-10, with each semi-finalist asked to give a five-minute live presentation at the event. A public vote will subsequently open on the BABTAC website, based on the recording of the live presentation, with the names of the four to five finalists made public by December 1. All finalists will give a ten-minute live presentation at Professional Beauty London at the ExCeL exhibition centre February 23-24, before a winner is chosen.

“Carolyn Cross, chair of BABTAC and CIBTAC (the Confederation of International Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology), said: “We have been overwhelmed with the sheer number of quality concepts put forward and we are extremely proud of the talented individuals within the industry. To see so many people getting behind and backing this competition is great and we should be proud of what our industry has to offer.”
