Habia calls for beauty professionals’ involvement in injectables legislation

The beauty and aesthetics industry should be involved in the development and implementation of legislation concerning injectable treatments, says Habia.

The Hair and Beauty Industry Authority has issued a statement after consulting with beauty organisations and government agencies about the process of implementing the recommendations of the Government’s recent Keogh Review on the Regulation of Cosmetic Interventions.

Habia understands that ministers will recommend which of the Review’s proposals should be taken forward into legislation before Parliamentary recess begins on July 18, with Health Education England (HEE) beginning to develop that over the summer.

Rob Young, managing director of Habia MD, said, “Until ministers make their recommendations before parliament’s summer recess, we don’t yet know what HEE’s development work will involve.

We have been in contact with HEE and they are willing to listen to the points we have to make. Whilst they are yet to decide who will be involved in the standards development process, we are confident that Habia and other beauty industry stakeholders will have a seat at the table.”
