Leighton Denny to receive MBE

Renowned session tech and beauty brand owner Leighton Denny has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

Denny has received the title for his achievements within the nail and beauty industry.

He has created three product lines including Leighton Denny Expert Nails, Sun-Believable Expert Tan and Lip Dual Expert Makeup, which are sold in over 800 appointed salons worldwide.

Although Denny started his professional life as a forklift truck driver, he discovered his passion for the nail industry after a trip to the US, and on his return to the UK he spotted a gap in the nail market. He opened his first nail salon in Bradford and then moved to London and opened several luxury salons. In 2005, he produced his own nail lacquers and treatments.

On receiving the MBE, he said: “It was on my actual 40th Birthday when I received the e-mail from the Cabinet Office; and I thought someone was pulling my leg! I am truly honoured and humbled to be recognised by Her Majesty The Queen.”

Later this year, Denny will release his autobiography, How I Nailed It, and launch his first perfume, Light and Dark.
