Mandarin Oriental opens Shanghai property

The Mandarin Oriental has announced the opening of a new property in Shanghai, China, later this year. The Mandarin Oriental Pudong is set to open in the second quarter of 2013 and will feature 362 rooms and suites and 210 serviced apartments.
Located in the city’s waterfront Harbour City development, a 25-hectare area containing shops, restaurants, residential buildings and entertainment complexes, the hotel will house 318 guest rooms and 44 suites.
Spa and wellness facilities at the hotel will include a 13-treatment room spa, incorporating a space offering the first private Visia complexion analysis consultations in Shanghai.
Spanning 2,415 square metres, the spa will also have a crystal steam room, aroma experience showers, an ice fountain and two VIP treatment suites. Other fitness and wellness amenities will include a 25m pool, a thermal bath area and a fitness centre with a Kinesis climbing wall.
Design features at the hotel will include the largest collection of contemporary Chinese art in Shanghai, with 4,000 original works of art adorning the property.
Food and beverage options at the Mandarin Oriental Pudong will range from Chinese cuisine from the Jiang Nan region, served in the Yong Yi Ting restaurant, and The Mandarin Cake Shop to French restaurant Fifty 8° Grill and the Qi Bar.
