Salons show support for cervical cancer charity event "Fanuary
For the second year, Sue Davies owner of Gorgeous Nail & Beauty Emporium in Bexley, is running a month-long waxing event “Fanuary”, in support of charity Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.
For every Brazilian or Hollywood wax performed in the month of January, £5 will be donated to the charity.
Davies set up the fundraiser in tribute to her friend Karen Miller, who died in 2014.
She said: ““Many women don’t realise the causes of cervical cancer, so hopefully this event will raise awareness so that more women attend the smear test screening when offered.” In fact Davies reports that several of her clients were encouraged to attend screenings thanks to the awareness raised by the event last year.
Davies has managed to take the event nationwide with other salons taking part and has received support from skincare and tanning brand Tibby Olivier and waxing brand Strip Distribution.
