French brand Sothys annually introduces two new facials designed to protect the skin against the elements of the seasons and the limited edition Oxygenating Facial Treatment with pear and grape extract is the offering for the autumn winter 2013/14 months.
Available until replaced by the spring summer 2014 facial, the 45-minute treatment has been developed to deliver brightness and radiance to and oxygenate tired autumn and winter skin. As with all facials, the process begins with a thorough cleanse, with Kamini Vaghela, owner of the Kensington-based Kamini Beauty Salon where I have the treatment, carefully removing my makeup and cleansing my skin with Sothys Eye and Lip Makeup Removing Fluid.
This preparatory step is followed by the application of the 2-in-1 Mask Exfoliant, containing softening and moisturising pear extract, detoxifying and oxygenating pink clay, anti-oxidant grape extract and exfoliating polyethylene particles.
With Kamini taking time to carefully and thoroughly massage the creamy paste into my skin – explaining that an essential aspect of the Sothys approach is allowing products to fully permeate, rather than simply applying and removing them before the have had the opportunity to really filter through the different layers of the skin – the firming and radiance boosting exfoliant is then left on for around five minutes.
