Supplier training courses offered international accreditation via Cibtac

Training courses created by brands could soon be endorsed as official internationally recognised qualifications under a new programme developed by international awarding body Cibtac.

Cibtac has developed an "Endorsed Training Programme" accreditation, which is similar to the short course accreditation, but is aimed at training, product and equipment houses.

It has been developed to enable product house and equipment suppliers to authenticate their courses so the training is recognised internationally and a more official mark of achievement than has previously been possible.

The new Cibtac endorsement will be given to supplier training courses that are deemed to be fit for purpose, quality assured and meet rigorous requirements. Learners will be awarded an endorsed certificate and be able to gain insurance for the course. Suppliers will be able to display the CIBTAC Endorsed Training Programme logo, which will be provided annually.

The new endorsement was designed to make it easier for therapists to determine whether courses offer long-term value and for salons and employers to decide whether the courses that applicants have completed were comprehensive and valuable, even if they are not familiar with the product supplier that created the course.

Cibtac and Babtac director of operations Julie Speed said: "The providers of the [Cibtac endorsed] programme will have undergone thorough quality assurance processes for teaching and learning, and have developed a final assessment of the learners. This means that training will always be fit for purpose, high quality and meet rigorous requirements as well as providing learners with an endorsed certificate. This new initiative will, in turn, increase the value of the provider’s traditional and standalone courses."
