Trafford College first to join Habia’s Professional Register

Trafford College has become the first further education establishment to link its beauty therapy courses with Habia’s  Register of Beauty Professionals.

The college’s NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications will fulfill all requirements of the register, meaning qualifying students will automatically enrolled on to the register.

Trafford College’s assistant principal Joan Scott said, “I've witnessed at first hand the huge impact a professional register can make to an industry. The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) over the last few years has provided a system of regulation for instructors and trainers to ensure they meet the agreed National Occupational Standards. And now we have a Beauty Register, which has been developed to protect the public from ‘cowboy therapists’ who do not hold appropriate qualifications.”

Habia sales and marketing director Richard Lambert added, “This is a great start in the industry for those who have studied hard to achieve their nationally recognised qualification at Trafford College. A place on the independent Professional Beauty Register demonstrates they are fully qualified and competent.”

The voluntary and independent registers were launched in October with support from the Government’s UK Commission for Employment and Skills. They aim to replicate the success of independent professional registers in other sectors.

Individuals are able to register direct online; however discounts will be obtained if centres or employers register individuals in bulk.
