Velaa Private Island opens in the Maldives

New luxury resort Velaa Private Island has opened in the Maldives. Located on the Noonu Atoll, the resort stretches across 20 hectares and incorporates 45 private villas. 

Accommodation options include two four-bedroom villas with space for 10 people. 18 of the villas are built over water with one, the Romantic Pool Residence, exclusively reached by boat. 

The development comprises a Spa My Blend by Clarins, with six treatment villas, including two for couples, spread across eight small islands. 

The spa will offer seven wellness programmes; Relax, Vitality, Detox, Men's Power Pack, Under the Sun, Honeymoon and Ever Young. The programmes will be available for three or seven-day durations. 

Other services and amenities at the spa include the first now room in the Maldives, a yoga pavilion and the availability of personal training sessions. 

The culinary offering on Velaa Private Island has been developed in conjunction with Michelin-starred French chef Adeline Grattard.

The resort features three restaurants, two bars and an extensive wine cellar, with food and beverage options ranging from signature over-water restaurant Aragu, the Cru bar and fine dining restaurant Tavaru. 

Velaa also includes a 7-hole Troon Short Game Golf Academy designed by former European Ryder Cup team captain José María Olazábal. Other leisure activities on offer are diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, wakeboarding, water skiing, dolphin watching and sunset cruises.
