US cosmetic giant Coty has bought Lena White Ltd, the UK distributor for nail brand OPI.

Coty purchased OPI from its American founders in 2010 and today announced a deal today to buy Lena White, which is the largest international distributor for OPI, for an undisclosed sum.

Coty also owns beauty brands including Rimmel and Sally Hansen.

Following the sale of Lena White, Coty said it will focus on strengthening OPI’s presence in the professional salon channel via the integration of Lena White’s expert staff and the continuation of Lena White’s signature programme on QVC: In the Salon with OPI.

Lena White's tanning brand, LDN Skins, is run as a separate company so will not be part of the Coty deal.

Coty chief executive Michele Scannavini said: “The OPI business strategy remains focused on the salon professional and the prestige channel, and we expect to accelerate growth of the brand through the integration of the product into our international distribution platform. We welcome the Lena White Ltd team to the Coty family.”

Lena White, founder of the eponymous distribution company, added: “Our management team will continue in this new structure and we look forward to embracing the ‘Faster. Further. Freer.’ culture of Coty.”
