Aman Resorts to open Dominican Republic resort at the end of the year

Aman Resorts has announced the opening of a property in the Dominican Republic in the last quarter of the year.

The Amanera will be framed by the Cordillera Septentrional mountain range on the north of the island and will overlook the Playa Grande beach.

Situated on 2,000 acres of land, the property will incorporate the 370-acre Playa Grande Golf Course, making Amanera the first Aman resort to incorporate a golf course.

Among the other resort facilities will be an Aman Spa, featuring single and double treatment rooms and offering a menu of massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps and signature spa journeys.

The spa will use Aman’s in-house brand of products in treatments. The spa area will also feature a fitness centre with a personal training studio, as well as a sauna, steam room and relaxation area.

The resort, located atop cliffs, will feature 25 one and two-bedroom casitas, 13 of which will have their own 10-metre pools.

Other facilities at the property will include a 20-metre swimming pool, a restaurant, an outside bar and lounge area, a library, tennis courts and the Club de Playa beach club, which includes a kid’s club.

Olivier Jolivet, chief executive of Aman Resorts, said: "Amanera will embody the true spirit of Aman. It will demonstrate our continued commitment to curating resorts of architectural distinction that harmoniously integrate into the pristine environments they occupy.”
