Armathwaite Hall invests £100,000 in high-tech gym

Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa has invested £100,000 into redeveloping its gym with an emphasis on aiding recovery from burnout and sporting injury.

In order to better help guests and members achieve their lifestyle and sporting goals, the gym is being redeveloped with Life Fitness dual-use machines with connectivity capabilities, such as a GX Water Rower which emulates real life rowing, limiting strain on the back and hip joints.

Other equipment will include a Curved Treadmill to encourage better foot placement, as well as IC7 Indoor Cycles which mimic road biking and monitor a user’s power, speed and leg function.

Information recorded by the machines is fed back and saved to smart devices, allowing users to incorporate it into their training schedules and track progress.

Guests and members will also be able to download instructional video demos for each piece of equipment.

There will be new tailor-made programmes to help gym users choose the workout that most meets their needs and fitness levels. These can be combined with the spa’s hydrotherapy facilities to create a bespoke holistic fitness plan.

Armathwaite Hall’s spa and leisure director Roberta Griffiths commented:“Based in the Lake District, we attract a great many active people.  We realised that offering simply gym equipment wasn’t enough as many of these people regularly participate in fitness, sporting and leisure activities which require specific equipment and programmes for both muscle recovery and performance.

"Our new gym addresses these needs, ensuring that our visitors take care of their bodies, continue to progress in their training and leave in the best condition possible.”

Armathwaite Hall isn't the only hotel spa to up its fitness offer. These spas have all partnered with fitness brands or independent practitioners on fitness residencies.
