Spa consultant Berni Hawkins is plotting a clinic chain, following the opening of the first Neueskin clinic this summer.
Hawkins is eyeing a roll out of her new skin clinic concept and has already had interest from an investor looking to open a second site, but declined to give details as a deal is not yet signed.
The first Neueskin Clinic opened within LA Fitness, South Kensington, in May and has five treatment rooms and a retail area in the basement of the gym.
It offers non-invasive machine-based treatments including needle-free mesotherapy from Eporex, which targets fat reduction and cellulite. Eporex treatments drive the majority of business but the clinic also offers IPL skin rejuvenation and hair removal from Cosmedico, microdermabrasion with light therapy and nutrition from Thalgo, Dermaquest skin peels, Perron Rigot waxing and Geleration nails.
Hawkins, who is more commonly associated with her spa consultancy work, and was formerly managing director of Essex spa Lifehouse, is director of the clinic and believes clinics represent the biggest growth potential in the beauty market.
She said: “The downfall for a lot of business owners is to not see how the market is developing and recognise that results-driven clinics are a growing trend. I am not creating a spa concept where clients can relax in a tranquil environment, this is purely about targeted solutions and results-driven treatments.”
The clinic is in its infancy so Hawkins said she is concentrating on proving the concept works to the ratio she requires before instigating a roll-out plan. “My consultancy expertise comes to fore here as, like I would teach other people about setting up a business, I am now practising what I preach,” she said.
