British Beauty Council's Millie Kendall and Helena Grzesk named in the Queen's New Year Honours List 2022

The British Beauty Council’s chief executive officer Millie Kendall and chief operating officer Helen Grzesk have been recognised in the Queen’s New Year Honours List for 2022, recognising the huge impact of their collective endeavours to help support the beauty industry during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

The New Year Honours List names new members of the orders of chivalry and recipients of other official honours. Kendall has been awarded an OBE (Officer of the British Empire) and Grzesk was given an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) on January 1.

Both have worked within the British Beauty Council to champion the beauty industry, launching prolific campaigns, initiatives, and activities to engage the highest levels of Government, politicians, and business leaders in discussions around the value of British beauty to the national economy, and its social and cultural impact on the nation’s population.

The council has launched several successful initiatives, with key achievements in 2021 including winning £500 million-pounds worth of Government-backed support during the Covid-19 pandemic and launching the Sustainable Beauty Coalition to accelerate the sector’s sustainability efforts.

The council also hosted British Beauty Week in September 2021, with Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak opening the event, reflecting the strong relationship the council has with the Government.

Kendall said: “It’s an honour to be recognised in this way. My passion for the beauty industry has never faltered, it makes such an impact on our everyday lives. This award signifies a change in how our sector is viewed, and an appreciation of not just my work but the monumental efforts of The British Beauty Council and its partners in affecting that change.”

Grzesk said: “This award is a demonstration of the positive steps forward we have taken in being recognised as a global leader in innovation and education. We are so truly proud of the work we have achieved to date – this is the culmination of that work.”

Congratulations to both on this acknowledgement.
