A 12-treatment room Espa spa has opened at The Leela Palace Chennai hotel in southern India. The spa spans 1,486sq m, with facilities including separate thermal suites for men and women.

The thermal suites feature vitality pools with lounge beds and body jets, mosaic aroma steam rooms and oak wood saunas. Other facilities at the spa include sleep pods, tea lounges, relaxation areas and a private spa suite, complete with its own terrace.

Madhu Nair, director of design and operations for Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts said: “With this opening, we have expanded our partnership with Espa and we are excited about introducing our guests to a world-class experience in Chennai.”

Among the signature treatments at the spa is the Balinese massage with warm aromatherapy oils; the Royal Leela Facial, which incorporates herb poultices; the Abhyanga massage to balance body and mind; and the Rose Princess Facial – using rose quartz crystals to improve microcirculation. The spa menu includes a series of treatments for men, including the Purifying Facial and the Deep Muscle Massage.

The spa also features a fitness area, with its own steam room facilities and swimming pool. Susan Harmsworth, founder and chief executive of Espa, said: “With the opening of Espa at The Leela Palace Chennai, our partnership with The Leela Group gets stronger.”
