Habia launches advisory committee for Professional Registers

Industry association Habia is recruiting experienced salon and spa owners, therapists and beauty educators to form an advisory committee to help develop its Professional Registers for Beauty, Nails and Spa.

The role of the advisory committee will be to guide how registers operate in order to raise industry standards, be responsive to new trends and developments, and add value for industry professionals, employers and consumers alike.

Richard Lambert, Habia’s sales and marketing director, said, “We have been very clear that the registers are an industry initiative. The advisory committee is the vehicle that ensures ongoing transparency and true ownership by the sector. We are looking for a mix of people representing beauty, nails and spa, but also with a variety of backgrounds, including employers, educators and industry brands.”

SkillsActive’s compliance and standards manager Jacqueline Vidal agreed, saying that the purpose of the registers is to make sure the sector has the skilled workforce to meet the challenges of such a fast paced industry.

The role will require three meetings a year and will be voluntary. Industry professionals interested in being involved should email Vidal with a CV and covering letter by May 19.
