Ipswich salon owner chosen for London Growth Programme

Sue Carter, the owner of Professional Beauty Award-winning salon Image in Ipswich, has been selected for the London Growth Programme 2014.

She was chosen by the Enterprising Women Foundation to be part of the personal development programme, which is open to businesses with an annual turnover of between £100,000 and £400,000.

As part of the programme, Carter attended her first full day of training in London, at the beginning of March, hosted by entrepreneur and founder of Enterprising Women Bev Hurley.

Carter said: “The day was packed full of advice and ideas for moving the business forward. I absolutely loved it.”

The programme is designed for established women entrepreneurs looking to grow their businesses. The participants benefit from three to six days of intensive and interactive learning, run at fortnightly intervals, with mentoring and coaching on offer in between.

Carter, who has been running her salon in Ipswich for 15 years with help from her two daughters, is hoping to develop the business including its new Training Academy, which opened in January.

The Training Academy offers Babtac-approved one-day courses in waxing, Lava Shells massage, spray tanning, eyelash extensions and brow tinting for aspiring therapists or those looking to update their training.

She said: “The business has a lot of potential for growth, especially with the new academy. So it is really good for me to get mentoring to achieve the goals I want, both personally and professionally."
