Jumeirah opens first Kuwait property

Jumeirah has announced the soft opening of its first resort in Kuwait, the Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel and Spa on May 7. The 408-guest room hotel marks the first property in the Gulf, outside of the UAE, for the luxury hotel group.

Featuring 316 rooms and suites, 80 residential suites and 12 villas, the Jumeirah Messilah was designed by New York based architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Water is a recurring theme throughout the property, with water features in the lobby connecting to streams and fountains in the garden.

Gerald Lawless, president and chief executive of the Jumeirah group, said: "We are proud to be bringing our brand to Kuwait and believe that the quality of the hotel and the services delivered will offer the people of Kuwait and visitors from around the world a true taste of Jumeirah’s unique brand of hospitality.”

The property houses a Talise Spa, Jumeirah's in-house spa brand, spanning 3,500sq m and comprising 17 treatments rooms – including two private suites. The spa also has a salt room, using blocks from the Himalayas, hydrotherapy baths, a steam room, a fitness studio and personal trainer services.

Personal evaluations will be available to spa guests and treatments on the menu will include massages, facials, reiki treatments and detox programmes. Classes available at the fitness centre will include yoga and pilates.

The hotel will include six restaurants, ranging from a seafood restaurant and an Italian restaurant to a steakhouse and an all-day dining option. There will also be a number of cafés and lounges on the premises.

Other hotel facilities will include a 1,950sq m ballroom and wedding space, complete with a  bridal suite, and meeting and events facilities.
