Managing staff is the biggest challenge of running a salon
Dealing with staff is the biggest challenge for the majority of UK and Irish salon owners, according to new data from software company Phorest.
Research of 250 beauty salons, hair salons and spas asked business owners about the biggest challenge they face when it comes to running the salon. Phorest found that managing staff was reported as the biggest challenge by 48% of respondents.
New clients was the biggest challenge for 32% and client retention was seen as the most challenging aspect of running a business by 20% of salon owners.
When questioned about what aspects of staff management they found so challenging, salon owners reported maintaining motivation, dealing with absenteeism and consistency as the some of the main points. They also said that getting therapists comfortable selling retail products, or maintaining consistency in their work were areas of concern.
