The Global Spa & Wellness Summit (GSWS) has announced the appointment of Mia Kyricos, president of Kyricos & Associates and Veer Singh, chief executive of Vana Retreats & Hotels, to its board of directors.
SpaFinder Wellness president Susie Ellis, a founding member of the summit and a board member since the GSWS’s inception in 2007, was simultaneously appointed chairman and chief executive of the international organisation. Co-founder and former chairman Pete Ellis was named chairman emeritus, in recognition of his dedication to and years of leadership of the summit.
Mia Kyricos and Veer Singh both bring considerable industry experience to the board. Setting up her own spa, wellness and hospitality industry consultancy, Kyricos & Associates, in 2012, Kyricos was previously vice president of Core Performance − overseeing corporate wellness centres − and director of global spa brands and programming at Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
“Mia and Veer both bring exceptional talent, vision and enthusiasm to the GSWS,” said Susie Ellis. “Their unique perspectives and experience will be extremely valuable to the Summit as we continue our mission of presenting an on-going forum where collaboration and shared purpose benefit the industry, the people we serve and the planet we share.”
As chief executive of Delhi-based Vana Hotels & Resorts, Singh is the driving force behind a new focus on results-centred wellness offerings and luxury hospitality. Singh also heads numerous other initiatives under the umbrella of India’s Max group, whose holdings and areas of interest range from healthcare and film to research and insurance.
Emanuel Berger, founder of Berger Hospitality Management in Switzerland and Andrew Gibson, group director of spas at the Mandarin Hotel Group, join Ellis as GSWS co-chairs.
