New reality TV show to help struggling salons transform their businesses
Beauty manufacturer and distributor SkinBase has teamed up with business coach Liz McKeon to produce a new reality TV show that will help salon owners turnaround their flagging businesses.
“The £200 Salon Turnaround”, which has been likedned to Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, will see a team of beauty business experts transform a struggling salon in just two weeks, doubling their profits with a budget of just £200.
Salons will be secretly assessed before the experts – McKeon and SkinBase founder and managing director Richard Faulkner – tackle everything from staff attitudes and training to customer service, follow-ups and aesthetics.
Talking about the inspiration behind the show, Faulkner said: “Last year Liz and I hosted a free seminar on business development for salons. Around 200 SkinBase therapists attended and within two weeks of putting into practice the skills and advice we’d given them, almost all had reported a 25% improvement in profits, while others had doubled their business. It got us thinking about what we could achieve if we were to spend two weeks intensively assessing, training and teaching failing or struggling salons.”
Salons have until Tuesday, April 19 to apply and filming will take place in June. The show is due to air on terrestial TV later this year.
