The Lowdown: The latest treatment innovation from the team behind Lash Perfect, Brow Perfect and LaLa Lashes, Lola Brows (short for long lasting brows) colours the skin and the hair in the brow area to create a natural looking finish that lasts up to three weeks. Due to hit the market in late July or early August, Lola Brows uses a pure mineral pigment to create colour, as opposed to a tint that could cause a potential reaction, meaning there’s no need to patch test beforehand.

How it works: Although it’s yet to launch, I went along to try this treatment at Lash Perfect’s Lash Bar just off Carnaby Street courtesy of MUA and Lola Brows trainer Emma Apps. The treatment starts with a consultation to determine what it is the client wants from their brows, which for me was a smoother, more defined shape and a darker colour. Emma marked some guide points on my brows, to see where to apply the colour.

There are six pigment powders, ranging from nude to black, which can be mixed together to create the right colour for the each client. For me, Emma used Nude, Light Brown and Black, to create a colour that was a natural match for my hair and didn’t look too heavy on my pale brows. The powder is then mixed with a liquid base – either Clear or Black, depending on the client’s colouring – before applying it to the brows.

The colour is applied very delicately, essentially painting on individual hairs to the brow area. After doing most of my brows, Emma then switched to a slightly darker shade to add some subtle lowlights and create depth for a more natural look.

Best for: Like with brow extensions, Lola Brows builds on the existing hairs and fills in gaps to create a fuller, natural-looking brow, so it’s great for clients that have over-plucked or patchy brows. As its effects last for up to three weeks, it’s also a good option for clients who are thinking about having something more permanent, such as micropigmentation, but want to test out shape and shade before committing to the full treatment. It’s also an alternative for clients who are sensitive to tints.

The verdict: I was really impressed with this treatment. The look Emma created was very natural and subtle, and I’ve had a lot of compliments on my brows since having the treatment. They’ve lasted really well, too.
