North Kent College opens Miskin Spa following £100,000 refurbishment
North Kent College’s Dartford campus has opened a new salon, spa and make-up studio following a £100,000 refurbishment.
The Miskin Spa, which opened on November 1, is a fully operational training facility with students able to offer high-quality treatments to the local area at lower prices, while gaining nationally recognised qualifications.
The facility has four practical training rooms and three theory rooms.
During the spa’s opening day students performed a range of treatments including mini manicures and back and neck massages, while others demonstrated how to apply body art.
Stacie Collings, the college’s curriculum manager for beauty, said: “We’re so pleased with the launch. We have a fantastic range of courses in beauty therapy and make-up artistry and are excited to see our course offers expand further to include theatrical make-up next year.”
Emma Mackay, manager of hair and beauty at City and Guilds, who opened the make-up studio on launch day said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to see how centres like North Kent College are progressing. It is all about employability and these type of facilities are fundamental.”
Miskin Spa, Beauty and Make-up salon offers full-time educational courses for students 16+. Applications for September 2017 are now open.
