One of the most important meetings in the spa calendar
Featuring a busy two-day programme, the Professional Spa & Wellness Convention took in the width and breadth of current industry topics spanning the spa and wellness agenda.
With an expanded spa lounge available for speakers and delegates to spend time in between sessions, the convention not only offered one of the best opportunities of the year to benefit from valuable business insight and industry expertise, but was also a great networking event.
The first day featured subjects such as widening the market for your spa, attracting and retaining clients and wellness as a route to new customers. Jeff Matthews, president and chief operating officer of Mandara Spa emphasised the importance of having a competitive advantage in todays’ crowded market, commenting that: “Customers today are extremely value conscious.”
The second day featured topics including best practice financial management and how to break into emerging markets. Jérôme Phelipeau, owner and chief executive of the Compagnie de Vichy, shared his experience on how customers are no longer content with one-size-fits-all solutions: “Personalisation is the key, packages are not in demand anymore,” he commented.
Other speakers over the two days included Andrew Gibson, group director of spa for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Alla Sokolova, co-founder and general manager of IWC Balans, Jeff Butterworth, chief spa and wellness officer at Lux Island Resorts and Aldina Duarte Ramos, director of development, wellbeing activities, Sofitel & Thalassa Sea & Spa.
Next year’s Professional Spa & Wellness Convention will take place at ExCeL London, as part of Professional Beauty London, on February 23-24. Click here to register your interest.
