Online beauty retailer sales show beauty spending map of UK
Those living in South West London spend the most on skincare in the whole of the UK, according to online beauty retailer Beauty Flash.
The website put together an infographic beauty map of the UK based on its product sales from each part of the country. The findings show little truth in some of the most common beauty stereotypes about different regions. The biggest spend on fake tan was in Glasgow rather than Essex, for example.
18% of nail care purchases came from areas in the South East, and Guildford and Reading came out as the two highest spending towns in this category. London came out top for skincare sales (22%) and hair care (24%).
Perhaps surprisingly given the image-obsessed reputation of men and women from Newcastle, those from the North East spend the least on make-up and hair care, with just 2% of Beauty Flash’s sales in these categories coming from the region, and the North East was also joint with Wales as the lowest spending regions on skincare.
