PB award winner launches national campaign to help the elderly

PB Regional Award winner Jemma Cooper has launched a national campaign which will see therapists give free treatments to the elderly.

The Look Good Feel Fab campaign will run throughout the UK from January 1–31, 2017, and many salons and care homes have already signed up to take part.

There are three ways your salon can get involved: 1.) give up two hours of your time per week to perform free treatments in day centres and care homes, 2.) donate £100 (minimum) treatment gift voucher to those in need, or 3.) host an in-salon event offering free mini-treatments to patients and their carers – from your chosen organisation.

Cooper, who owns Hi Therapies beauty salon in Bournemouth, which won Professional Beauty’s Beauty Salon of the Year: South West 2016 Regional Award, said: “Winning the award has been the catalyst to this whole thing. It’s given me the confidence and respect within the industry to do it. The aim is to help the older generation while inspiring the younger generation, bringing therapists together in the process.

"When I approach other salons they know I’m a reputable person because of the accreditation the award gives. The goal is to inspire more therapists, reach a wider audience, break down any barriers of therapists not connecting and give back to those in need."

Cooper will also be hosting talks throughout the UK in January in a bid to share her expertise with the industry. The dates for these will be announced in the coming weeks.

The deadline to sign up to the campaign is December 9. For more information, click here
