PB Upskills (Feb 8–12): pregnancy waxing 101 and reaching new clients on social media

Our PB Upskills programme for February 8–12 will cover essential business, digital and practical skills that will help you reopen from coronavirus lockdown 3.0 strong.
From a session on how to reach more clients on social media and setting and achieving realistic business goals for 2021, to a masterclass on pre- and post-pregnancy waxing, our experts will help you upskill during this time of enforced closure.
Plus, top facialist Lisa Franklin will reveal how switching to a focus on high-profit treatments using multifunctional devices can help your salon bounce back, while the industry’s top waxers reveal how to keep clients’ loyal to you when you reopen post-lockdown.

Monday 8 February – 10am – Digital Skills Live with Keeks Reid (part two) – “The never-ending social stream: how to reach more people”
There seems to be a never-ending stream of new social channels and even more ways to reach clients’ than ever before. In our second session with digital and social content specialist Keeks Reid, we go through the key apps and new features that’ll get more eyes on your social profiles, helping to boost your business. There will be a 10-minute audience Q&A at the end where you can ask Reid your burning questions.

Tuesday 9 February – 12pm – Practical Skills Live with Amy Lewis and Jo Weller – “Benefits of using hot wax and a focus on pre- and post-pregnancy waxing”
Amy Lewis, director of waxing and nails salon chain Mooeys, and Jo Weller, Mooeys training manager, talk all things hot wax in this Practical Skills session, covering the benefits of using this type of wax on facial and intimate areas and how it compares to other solutions on the market. The waxing duo will also give us the lowdown on pre- and post-pregnancy waxing, from the best positions to put clients in to how to make them feel at ease. There will be a 10-minute audience Q&A at the end.

Wednesday 10 February – Top Tips article – “11 waxing tips to keep clients loyal when you reopen”
Building a loyal client base is the holy grail for any waxer. We reveal how to keep waxing clients committed to your salon when you can return to work post-coronavirus lockdown, with tops tips from the industry’s leading wax experts. The article will cover communication, techniques, going the extra mile and nailing your waxing social media.

Thursday 11 February – 12:30pm – Business Skills Live with Valerie Delforge (part two) – “How to set and achieve realistic targets for 2021”
Setting targets is key for any salon owner as it motivates the team to achieve them, however, targets can often become demotivating or overwhelming. With 2020 being the most reactive year the industry has encountered, we’ve seen various elements of targets becoming just a number and far from realistic. In 2021, it is difficult to come back with a tangible target that can get everyone focused, but Valerie Delforge, founder and chief executive of The Delforge Group, reveals how to make them empowering and achievable for the business and your team.
