Metallic eyeshadows and marble nail art among Pinterest’s 2018 Global Beauty Trends
Social media platform Pinterest has revealed the hottest beauty looks for 2018 in its Global Beauty Report.
The report, which the platform does annually, examines what people across the globe are searching for and pinning when it comes to beauty by analysing 207 million boards.
Here’s what you can expect to be big in make-up and nails in the latter part of 2018.
Top make-up trends: metallic eyeshadows, wine-coloured lipstick and glitter
Eyeshadow hues vary globally, with Brits opting for metallic silvers, with pins up 334%, while rose gold came out top in Australia, with searches increasing by 188%.
Bold primary colours are a staple in Mexico (with searches for blue eyeshadow up 302%) and Germany (with a 53% increase in green shadow pins), while women in the US are rocking deep purples (52% pin increase).
A serious eyeliner flick is the number one look in South Africa, with searches for cat-eye make-up up 131%, while wine-coloured lipstick is a staple in Brazil (+93%) and orange blush is in vogue in Japan (+250%), the report stated.
Argentina is still riding the glitter wave, with women searching more for products that add that little bit of sparkle – glitter make-up saves were up 77%, and in Spain, Russian volume eyelash extensions are the beauty must-have, with a 700% increase in pins.

Pinterest’s report also revealed that nail styles still differ around the world, from the fully embellished to more understated looks.
