Saks announces new partnership with The Eve Appeal
The hair and beauty salon group, Saks has announced a new partnership with women’s cancer charity, The Eve Appeal. The two-year collaboration will see Saks salon members competing in a variety of fundraisers to reach a target of £100,000.
Stephen Kee, managing director at Saks, said, “At Saks we’re all about women and our people are really geared up to join in raising money to fund research and to empower women with the knowledge that could save lives.”
Participating in several events around the UK, Saks’s salons will compete in big sporting challenges, including an international group trek in 2016 that will be the ultimate endurance test.
As well as raising funds, the partnership hopes to promote awareness of the five gynecological cancers. Currently 55 women are diagnosed with one of these five cancers every day in the UK, according to The Eve Appeal. The charity funds the world-class research programme at the Department of Women’s Cancer based at University College London, as well as working in partnership with others to improve the support of women.
Chief executive of The Eve Appeal, Athena Lamnisos, said, “We’re serious about stopping women dying from the gynae cancers, but we can’t do it on our own. That’s why we’re delighted to be partnering with Saks to help raise vital funds and start salon conversations with hundreds of thousands of women all over the UK about how we can detect and prevent these women-only cancers.”
