Tanning salon chain Sunseekers Sunbeds is getting a £2 million investment from lender ThinCats to expand the business to 31 sites.

The company, which first opened in Maghull in 2001, now have 19 salons across the North West. With the help of ThinCats' funding, plans are now in motion for the brand to increase their number of sites to 31 over the next 12 months.

ThinCats, an alternative, mid-sized SMEs lender, made the investment following a meeting with managing director and founder of Sunseekers Sunbeds Ben Smith.

"Sunseekers started as a small business with big ambitions, growing organically," says Smith. "When we went out for financing, we needed a solution that would suit our business and its strategy, and ThinCats offered what we needed."

Ben Kimball, director of regional business development for ThinCats, commented: "When Ben at Sunseekers reached out to us, I saw an opportunity to help an ambitious local enterprise."

"A well-considered and thoughtful growth plan meant we were able to structure a credit-backed offering in a timely fashion, enabling Ben and his team to move the business forward," he continued.
