Salons should remind clients to wear SPF after spray tan
As part of Sun Awareness Week, spray tan machine manufacturer Aura is calling on salons to remind clients that although spray tanning is a safe alternative to sunbathing, it does not offer any sun protection.
Aura, which is a UK division of Swiss group Wagner, says it is important to remind clients to wear an SPF over their spray tan in order to protect themselves from UVA and UVB rays that can cause sun damage.
Global brand development director at Aura, Dr Valentin Langen, said, “We know that salons are responsible about educating customers about the dangers of exposing themselves to harmful UV rays and recommend that instead they opt for a spray tan to achieve a healthy glow to generate a feeling of wellbeing.
“However, if people are spending time in the sun then we are asking salon to remind them that the addition of SPF is still essential.”
Sun Awareness is the annual campaign from the British Association of Dermatologists’ to raise awareness about sun damage and skin cancer.
