Simon Jersey dresses Team GB for Olympic ceremonies
Simon Jersey is the first uniforms brand ever chosen to supply Team GB at the Olympic Games.
The UK brand collaborated on designs and fitted athletes for this year’s Games in Rio de Janeiro, which begins on Sunday after the opening ceremony tomorrow night.
The brand will supply the team with two outfits for formal events and the closing parade, and fitted all athletes during a “kitting out” process in the run up to the Games. Team GB visited a full-scale Simon Jersey tailors shop for their fittings, assembled at the kitting out location in Birmingham. It took two years to collaborate on and finalise designs, during which Simon Jersey worked with a range of athletes on the outfits.
“It was fantastic for our team to meet all of the athletes heading to Rio and to kit them out in Simon Jersey. To see the diverse range of body shapes in Team GB united by our clothing has been really special, ” said James Saunders, managing director for Simon Jersey.
“We hope that our design for the closing ceremony will be a real talking point and can’t wait to see the athletes wearing it at the end of the games on 21st August.”
