Spa day is most wanted Mother’s Day present

75% of UK mothers are hoping to be gifted a spa day this Mother’s Day, found research by Buyagift.co.uk

The online gift experience provider surveyed 2,000 mothers, 77% of which said they miss “relaxation and pamper time”, highlighting their sleep-deprivation and parental stress.

But while three quarters said they want a relaxing spa day present for Mother’s Day, four in five think they’re unlikely to actually receive one.

Most said they believed this was because of the overwhelming amount of choice, coupled with their families not knowing the names of treatments or how to find availability.

Nearly two thirds of the mothers surveyed said they don’t achieve the recommended seven hours of sleep per night, with one in 10 even reporting they get less than three hours’ sleep a night.

52% said they pine after a lie-in, while others crave having the time to read a book or drink a cup of tea before it gets cold.

Alison Vickery, marketing director of Buyagift, commented:  “Although most mums miss being pampered and pine for a spa treatment this Mother’s Day, sadly less than 20% of mums are confident that their family will get them one.

“Treatment options can seem confusing, so we are currently working with mothers across the UK and leading sports scientist Dr Daniel Plews on an experiment that will reveal the most relaxing spa treatments according to science.”
