Suki Kalirai named chair of Government hair and beauty apprenticeship panel
Suki Kalirai, chairman of Skills Active and former chairman of Habia, has been named panel chair of the Government’s Institute for Apprenticeships hair and beauty apprenticeship route.
Chairs for the Institute’s 15 route panels were announced last week. The panels are responsible for setting the knowledge, skills and behaviours standards for apprenticeship routes with a view of employers’ needs.
Kalirai will be tasked with leading the hair and beauty group in reviewing and making recommendations for current standards and assessment plans, and advising on funding levels on behalf of the Institute.
Meanwhile a panel of apprentices, made up of current or recent apprentices from a wide range of industries, exists to decide what issues should be focused on and ensure apprentices have a say in decisions made by the Institute.
Kalirai is also director of GKC Infocus and Qi Spa.
Antony Jenkins, chair of the Institute for Apprenticeships, said: “I’m delighted to be able to formally announce these appointments. For our panel chairs we’ve got individuals of superb calibre – a dynamic mix of experts in their field from a broad range of occupations. Their expertise will ensure the panels are run smoothly and that quality will be maintained across the system.
Our Panel of Apprentices is something I am particularly proud of – a deeply impressive group of individuals who will ensure the needs of apprentices are truly reflected in the development of the apprenticeship programme.”
