The Signature Spa expands after merging with local competitor

Hertfordshire salon The Signature Spa has expanded following the takeover of neighbouring salon Corner Cottage in Bishop’s Stortford.

The Signature Spa’s managing director Rebecca Wilson bought the assets of Corner Cottage in May but not the building it was based in. She then merged the business with her existing Little Hallingbury salon in June.

She has also added two new treatment rooms to The Signature Spa to accommodate the extra services taken on from Corner Cottage, and has employed the staff of Corner Cottage, which includes three therapists and one receptionist.

The Signature Spa has taken on Corner Cottage’s brands – Guinot, Decléor and Crystal Clear – alongside its existing treatment offering of Espa, Dermalogica, Jessica and Caci. “It’s enabled us to offer everything that’s on the market,” said Wilson, adding that the salon will now have “the biggest treatment offering in the area”.

The Corner Cottage premises is owned by two builders, who purchased the property 18 months ago with the intention of converting the salon into houses. “I knew that if they didn’t sell [the salon business] they would have just closed it,” said Wilson. “We shared a lot of clients and it has enabled me to ensure that business wasn’t forgotten.”
