VTCT launches accredited gel polish qualification

Training provider VTCT has launched a new qualification in LED Gel Polish Technique, accredited by Government regulator Ofqual.

The Level 2 Award is a single unit qualification will be available from October 1 and will cover the application, maintenance and removal of LED gel polish systems.

In June, Professional Beauty reported that getting gel polish units on to college curriculums was to be a key focus of the Nail Industry Association, formed earlier this year by salon owners Amanda Gould, Sue Davis and Belinda Price.

Davies told Professional Beauty in May, “Gel polish has become the main income source for many salons and education of it needs to be addressed. To date, no awarding body has included a gel polish unit in its qualifications and this is of concern to many within the industry.”

VTCT said it has launched the new qualification in response to demand from the industry, as nail artistry is an “extremely popular vocational area”.
