Waxing salon Nkd plots expansion
Award-winning Nottingham waxing salon nkd, is planning expansion next year after five years of trading, during which it has performed almost 28,000 bikini waxes.
Over the five years, Nkd, owned by Rebecca Dowdeswell, has carried out an impressive 27,971 bikini waxes, 11,434 leg waxes and 29,487 eyebrow waxes.
Dowdeswell said, “When we first opened our doors back in December 2009 at the height of the last recession I didn’t realise what I was letting myself in for. The first few years of operating were pretty hairy [pun intended], as it became clear just what deep trouble the British economy was in. However, with a huge amount of hard work, persistence and belief, nkd struggled through and I’m so pleased that we did.”
She revealed that the salon will relocate next year to new premises, adding, “We will be moving…within Nottingham city centre, having outgrown our current salon, and I have so many ideas for how I would like to take the business forward from here.”
Nkd’s most popular treatment is the Hollywood wax, closely followed by the Brazilian, with over 70% of appointments made made up by those two types of bikini wax.
Eyebrow reshapes, including waxes, threading and HD Brows, are the salon’s third most requested treatment.
