Wellness Travel Awards winners announced
The Cal-a-Vie Health Spa in the US, one of the winners of the inaugural Wellness Travel Awards
Canyon Ranch, Lapinha Spa, Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat and the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris were among the winners at the first Wellness Travel Awards, announced at the World Travel Market in London today.
Canyon Ranch won the top Crystal Award as the best wellness travel destination in North America, with Lapinha Spa winning the same honour for South America, Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat for Australia and the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris for Europe. The Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan won the Crystal Award for Asia and La Mamounia in Morocco claimed the prize for Africa.
The Wellness Travel Awards were presented by Spafinder Wellness, with the 373 shortlisted spas and resorts around the world selected by a judging panel of 26 spa and wellness journalists. Voting subsequently opened up to the public, with the winners determined based on consumers votes.
Awards were also presented to the top wellness destinations in 41 different countries. Country award winners included Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Germany, Miraval Arizona in the US, Dolder Grand in Switzerland, Richmond Nua Wellness Spa in Turkey, Lifehouse Hotel & Spa in the UK, Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru in the Maldives and Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo in Japan.
The awards also included honours across 18 different categories, for spas and resorts that excel in areas such as healthy cuisine, yoga, beauty, weight loss and nutrition, medical services and outdoor adventure and activities.
Among the category winners were Cal-a-Vie Health Spa in the US, named Best for Beautifying, Clinique La Prairie in Switzerland, named Best for Medical Services, Canyon Ranch, taking home the Best for Getting Fit, Best for Weight Loss and Nutrition, Best for Men and Best for Groups, Meetings & Special Events awards and Miraval Arizona, winning Best for Healthy Stay, Best for the Mind, Best for Culinary and Healthy Cuisine, Best for Outdoor Adventure and Activities and Best for Girlfriend Getaways.
