Win a place on LSBM's management course

Next year, the UK’s only spa management degree comes to the big city as University of Derby partners with The London School of Beauty & Make-Up to launch an introductory course at the latter’s East London school, which was taken over by Urban Retreat founder George Hammer earlier this year.

The University Certificate in Spa & Salon Management course comprises three modules, which take four months each and are worth a total of 60 university credits.

Modules
1. Understanding the industry: Spa, Salon & Beauty.
2. Business, Finance and Operations
3. Sales, Marketing & People Skills

On completion, students receive a University Certificate, awarded by University of Derby. This is a recognised qualification in its own right but can also be put towards a full degree if students choose to continue studying at the University.

Following two days of introductory seminars at the school, students will be given independent study tasks of key reading, research and work-based tasks that can be carried out in the schools working salon. The programme provides a lead tutor to support students when needed. Assessment is done via online tests, case studies and activities.

The course is designed to equip students with all the practical skills they need to land a job as a spa manager. On completing the course, students will have gained skills including problem solving and analysing the workplace, as well as how to communicate effectively, both verbally and through written reports and presentations.
